John Lewis has announced the appointment of Nigel Davis as the branch manager of its new ‘At Home’ shop in Horsham.
As branch manager, Nigel will be responsible for the overall success of the shop – the 11th ‘At Home’ site for John Lewis, and the second co-located site with Waitrose. He will also lead the 92 strong team of Partners (staff), including sales assistants, specialist advisers and catering professionals.
Nigel has been with the John Lewis Partnership for six years. He first started as branch manager at Waitrose Bromley South, where he stayed for just over two years before moving to Waitrose Tenterden.
Following a successful three years at Waitrose, Nigel moved across to the John Lewis division, where he took up the role of selling operations manager at the Bluewater branch. He was then appointed branch manager of John Lewis ‘At Home’ Tunbridge Wells and it is from here that he will lead the new team at the ‘At Home’ shop in Horsham.
Commenting on his new role, Nigel said: “I’m delighted to become the branch manager for the business’ 11th ‘At Home’ shop. Having been at the helm of John Lewis ‘At Home’ Tunbridge Wells, I know how popular the format is with customers and I’m excited to be bringing this to Horsham and the surrounding areas. I’m also looking forward to working closely with the Waitrose team on what is set to be a very exciting joint venture.”
Liz Mihell, Head of Selling, John Lewis at home said: “Nigel is very well qualified to take over the branch manager role in Horsham. His career with John Lewis has given him unrivalled experience across many elements of the business and he is an extremely well respected Partner who is looking forward to contributing to the ambitious plans we have for developing John Lewis in the future.”
Jo Thomas will manage the relocated Waitrose branch. She said: “By being able to bring the Waitrose and John Lewis brands together in one location, Horsham shoppers will get the very best of what the John Lewis Partnership has to offer. We are looking forward to working alongside Nigel’s team to provide more choice and help encourage more people to visit the town.”
John Lewis ‘At Home’ Horsham will focus on furniture, furnishing accessories, homeware, home and electrical technology, nursery and travel goods. Waitrose will include new concepts and services, including a juice bar, wine and beer bar, a new bakery and an extensive wine department. The store will also feature new eat-in areas where customers will be able to enjoy tapas, deli platters and freshly baked goods.
