Emergency services are at the scene of a road traffic collision which has closed the B2135 between West Grinstead and Partridge Green.
Firefighters released an elderly man and woman whose car left the road and went into a ditch, where it was partially submerged in water. The incident happened at about 12.10pm today (Monday, February 9).
Both were seriously hurt, the woman suffering potentially life-changing but not life-threatening injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the road and seek alternative routes.
