Police are investigating after obscene and racist graffiti, including some of an anti-Islamic nature, was found sprayed in a Broadbridge Heath subway.
The graffiti was reported by passers-by on Sunday, January 25, in the underpass off Wickhurst Lane, Broadbridge Heath.
It has been removed by the local authority, after police took photos of it.
Inspector Clare McKnight said: “This is a very unpleasant but also very unusual and isolated incident. We have no records of any other such graffiti recently and there is no apparent connection with any local community.
“We work very closely with local communities and have reassured them that this isolated incident is being taken very seriously and fully investigated.
“If anyone knows who is responsible for this, we ask them to contact us as soon as possible via firstname.lastname@example.org call 101, quoting serial 586 of 25/01. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
