The opening of the new Pandora concept store in Horsham last Saturday caused great excitement. A queue of eager shoppers stretched from the entrance of the Swan Walk shop to the shopping centre’s doors on Carfax.
Right at the front was Sue Cox, who arrived at 8.30am, enticed by the offer of a free bracelet for the first 50 customers who spent over £75. Sue said she would be buying charms to build her existing collection.
As the shutters went up, Dominic and Melanie Wakefield emerged. The brother and sister team, who head up 103-year-old Wakefields Jewellers in West Street, are behind the Pandora franchise, which is their second Pandora store. The first, in Brighton, opened in 2009 and has been very successful.
Their full team of Pandora staff, including manager Helen Leworthy, held a luxurious pink ribbon across the entrance to the store, which was cut by Dominic, as Pandora Horsham was declared officially open.
Immediately, the queue rushed inside, instantly filling the shop floor. Staff served Prosecco and cupcakes, while customers clutching shopping lists made a beeline for the jewellery collections. Sue Cox was the first of many customers during a day in which the excited buzz never wore off.
Store manager Helen said: “We had an amazing day. The store had a great reception, everyone loved it! And the staff thoroughly enjoyed being rushed off their feet serving the constant stream of customers.
“The people of Horsham certainly love Pandora many of them had great stories about their jewellery collections, which are made up of meaningful pieces they have bought to mark special moments in their lives.”
One of the shoppers, Corina Gibson, posted on Facebook: “Lovely shop, great atmosphere and really professional staff. Fab!”
The store opening is timely, as the new Christmas Collection from Pandora has just been launched, with lots of jewellery gift ideas for fashionistas and devoted Pandora fans. The store is braced for a busy Christmas.
