Horsham Football Club has been established in the community for 143 years and is soon to launch its brand new venture, a mini minor team for boys under the age of 10 years.
The team, supported by Covers Timber and Builders Merchants with a depot in Foundry Lane, Horsham, is looking to have a squad of 16 players and the club is trialling for players at the moment, ready for the start of the new season.
This new team comes at a time of expansion for the Horsham Football Club Youth Section. The club is running sides for under 18s, under 16s, under 15s, under 14s and now the under 10s. Trials at every age bracket have proved very popular and showcased many players who have displayed excellent skills and most importantly the willingness to learn.
Tony Massimo, Horsham Football Club Under 10s Team Manager and Yardman at Covers’ Horsham depot, said: “We are really excited about our imminent brand new team. Having attended the trials so far, all the local lads who took part have shown incredible potential. It’s not going to be an easy job picking a side and I’m sure all who are selected will be a true credit to the club and to Covers too.
“I have worked at the Horsham Covers depot for over two years. The organisation’s support is fantastic and has so far allowed us to purchase the goals and new playing kit required for the Under 10s team. The Youth Section at Horsham Football Club is an important part of the community and I am proud that the organisation I work for is enabling the new Under 10s team to become established.”
Sean Clarke, Covers Mid Region Commercial Manager, said: “Tony is incredibly passionate about the Horsham Football Club Youth Section. We hear about its developments regularly in the yard at the depot and are really looking forward to seeing the new Under 10s team emerge over the next few months. Hopefully our support will make the team a success and go on to produce some top quality football players in our community.”
