Sports coach charged with sex offences against girls in West Sussex

Martin O’Hara, 49, of Medmerry Hill, Brighton, a sports coach, has been charged with five offences of indecent assault on a teenage girl then aged between 14 and 16 in Horsham between 1993 and 1996.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “He has also been charged with four offences of engaging in sexual activity, with a girl then aged 13 to 15, in Henfield, between 2008 and 2011, and with one offence of sexual assault on the same girl in Henfield between 2011 and 2012.”

Mr O’Hara appeared at a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court today, (Monday, June 16). He pleaded not guilty, and is currently on court bail, due to appear for trial at Crown Court, the venue of which has not been set yet, on February 16, 2015.

The charges, authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, follow an investigation by West Sussex child protection detectives.
