The Brighton Marathon took place on Sunday, April 6, and many people took to the streets to take part and cheer the competitors on. Among those taking part was Dan Purchase, owner of BritWeb Ltd who finished in three hours and 47 minutes.
The marathon was part of Dan’s training for the Ironman Triathlon in July where he is raising money for the NSPCC.
Dan competed with friends Stuart Cooper, Phyl Weston and Niall Tierney whose times were three hours 19 minutes, three hours 56 minutes and four hours 19 minutes respectively.
“It was a good course and there were lots of people competing. We had near perfect weather which helped,” Dan told The District Post.
Also competing were four friends who donned Teletubbies outfits and completed the marathon in four hours and 51 minutes. Robert Cook (Dipsy), Jack Petersen (Po), Matt Mason (Tinky Winky) and Tom Robertson (Laa Laa) have raised over £3,000 for MS Research.
Robert said: “It was always our main aim to compete as a team.”

The marathon saw Tracey Prescott of Henfield, general manager of Peewees, complete her first marathon and it was also her 49th birthday. She completed the 26.2 miles in five hours and 38 seconds, raising more than £1,600 for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Tracey ran in support of friend Gary Dunk who has been undergoing cancer treatment. She said: “It was tough towards the end but I had the support, encouragement and advice of my sister Sam Bremner and experienced marathon runner Ilidia Campbell who is doing the London Marathon.”
