Sussex Police have said they will stop a party from happening in Southwater which is fast approaching 1,000 people attending on Facebook.
A police spokesperson stated: “Sussex Police are aware of a planned rave being advertised as taking place at Southwater Country Park over the weekend of March 29/30.”
A Facebook page named ‘Party’ which details the event states that over 1,600 people have been invited.
Sergeant Bob Trevis said: “Sussex Police will not tolerate this type of unregulated event, as it is not only dangerous to those attending, but causes disruption to people who live in the vicinity.
“Officers will be in the area and will be turning away anyone who plans to set up or attend.
“The key to preventing raves is an early warning from the public. If anyone suspects people are visiting Sussex with a view to planning an illegal gathering or they see the site being set up, please ring police on 101 and quote Operation Allegro. It is much more effective to prevent raves taking place rather than trying to stop them when they are in full swing.”
A post from Horsham Neighbourhood Policing on the page reads: “This notice is to advise you that we have been made fully aware of this event and your intentions to attend.
We would suggest that you do not attend as we will have Officers in the area on the night and they will also be in attendance to stop the party from happening. If anyone is found at the location they will be asked to leave.”
