England hockey Goalkeeper Maddie Hinch, from Billingshurst, West Sussex, last week struck a sponsorship deal with Five Oaks Audi, part of the Harwoods Group, and was presented with a brand new car.
Five Oaks Audi, situated in Horsham are supporting the young local athlete with a new Audi Q3 which was presented to her on Thursday, February 27.
Adam Flint, Dealer Principal at Five Oaks Audi told The District Post: “We are a local business and we want to support local people to help them achieve their goals. We hope that Maddie excels in her career and her and team GB bring home gold in Rio 2016!
“We’re helping her get into a fantastic new Audi and helping her with her career.”
Maddie plays for Holcombe in Kent and is also on the Great Britain team and plays for England. She was first reserve goal keeper for the London Olympics and is now first choice keeper. She is hoping to play at the upcoming Commonwealth Games and at the Rio Olympics.
Maddie Hinch told The District Post: “It’s so great to have so much support from Five Oaks Audi. Hockey is still very much an amateur sport. We have backing from the lottery but it’s very minimal wages. We’re so lucky businesses are willing to support us, its a huge help. It enables us to focus on our training.
“I’d really like to thank Audi and Harwoods for their support and to thank them for backing me in what I’m trying to achieve.”
The more support athletes like Maddie receive, the more it helps to focus on the sport and excel.
Maddie added: “I’m in a strong position now to keep playing well, and keep on being picked for the team.”
This is Maddie’s fourth year full time with the Great Britain team and she is currently preparing for the Hockey World Cup at the end of May.
