Emergency services were called to Rapide Dry Cleaners in the Bishopric, Horsham, at 6.30pm on Thursday, January 16.
Two fire crews attended the blaze at the laundry room to the rear of the dry cleaners.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “The cause of the fire is still under investigation by police and a fire investigation officer. A 10×5 metre room laundry room was affected. 80 per cent of the building was destroyed by fire.”
Fire and rescue workers used breathing apparatus, jets, and a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the blaze.
Owner of Rapide, Mr Timothy King is devastated by the effects of the fire, he told The District Post: “I’ve been here for 23 years and this is the first time I’ve had to close.”
Sussex Police officers attended the scene today (Friday, January 17) to further investigate.
