Arrests made following Broadbridge Heath crash

Two men were arrested after crashing a car at Broadbridge Heath on Thursday evening (January 23).

The men decamped from the black Volkswagen Golf GTI after it ran off the A264 and collided with a tree around 11.20pm. An off-duty police officer gave chase and police arrested a 23-year-old man from Horsham on suspicion of drink driving and taking a vehicle without consent nearby about 15 minutes later. He was taken to the East Surrey Hospital for treatment to injuries that he had sustained in the collision and was then taken into custody where he remained on Friday morning.

A police helicopter was then brought in to assist with the search and around 1.25am, a 24-year-old man from Slinfold, was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taking a vehicle without consent. He had also been injured in the crash and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment. He remained in hospital on Friday morning.
