Man jailed following free runner shooting

A man has been jailed for one year after shooting free runners in Horsham town centre, which was reported in The District Post in August.

Eric Kingston, a builder, shot Max Cave and Luke Harty in Market Square while they were free running, an activity that involves jumping between and climbing buildings and other fixed structures.
Mr Kingston told the court he feared for his safety and shot at the young men in self defence. Before his ruling the judge told him a comment from one of the victims, “you can’t just shoot people” was the most appropriate thing to say and that the public would be re-assured by him receiving the custodial sentence.
