Horsham 3 -1 Walton Casuals
Horsham threw the form book out the window as they earned an excellent win against league leaders Walton Casuals on Wednesday night.
This was the Hornets’ first home win in the Isthmian Division One South since the opening day and was secured by two first half goals and a penalty after the break.
Horsham held on for a comfortable victory in the end, much to the delight of Hornets boss Simon Colbran.
Colbran told The District Post: “We deserved to win tonight. I thought we defended well and showed a lot of experience. It was a very similar performance to the one we put in at Hastings on Saturday, but there was nothing else to affect the result.”
The manager also reserved some praise for goalkeeper and Captain Michael Hunter, saying: “Hunts made some big saves at important times tonight and that’s the mark of a top quality goalkeeper.”
Horsham now make the trip back down to Hastings on Saturday for a Ryman league fixture 7 days after the controversial cup match that saw them have three sent off in a 4 – 2 FA Trophy defeat.
