Horsham crashed out of the FA Cup with a disappointing third qualifying round defeat at home to Chatham Town.
The Hornets wilted in front of their biggest crowd of the season as they struggled to get going on a frustrating afternoon, despite the £7,500 prize money on offer.
The only goal came nine minutes into the second half when Chatham’s Alfie May shot expertly across the goal and into the far corner.
Furious Horsham manager Simon Colbran told The District Post: “It hurts the way we went out, the players did not perform at all and they have let the club and the fans down today. They should have been even more fired up after hearing that Coach Rob Frankland was involved in a car crash before the game, but it looked like they thought they only needed to turn up to win, it’s a massive missed opportunity.”
Rob Franklin was later released from hospital and is reported to be recovering well.
