Police are appealing to anyone who saw a man who was robbed for his wallet in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Horsham.
The victim, a 27-year-old former soldier, was walking along the alley which runs between St John’s Close, Eversfield Road and Elm Grove between 2am and 3am on Tuesday, September 24. He was approached by three men who shouted at the victim to hand over his wallet. He fought off the attackers, who were armed with bladed weapons, until he was hit on the head. He fell to the floor and his wallet was stolen.
The suspects are described as between 18 and 27, one being 6′ 4″ and of stocky build. The second was shorter and stocky and the third was average height and skinny.
Detective sergeant Glenn Willcocks said: “This is a quiet residential street and we are seeking any information about this nasty incident. I am appalled that a former soldier should be subjected to such an unprovoked and cowardly attack. Fortunately the victim is not seriously hurt and suffered minor cuts and bruises.
“We urge anyone with information to contact police on 101 or email email@example.com quoting serial 135 of 24/9. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
