Teenage girl tragically died in collison on A24

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died in a collision on the A24 at Southwater on Wednesday, July 24.

Emergency services were called to reports of a car on fire on the verge of the northbound carriageway at 4.05pm, about a kilometre north of the Buck Barn crossroads.  The driver, a 19-year-old from Godalming, was the only occupant of the vehicle and she sadly died at the scene.

Sergeant Rob Baldwin from the Road Policing Unit said: “The woman tragically died when her car, a silver Ford Focus, left the road. We need to establish what happened and want to speak with anybody who witnessed the collision.
“The road was closed for just over five hours. I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding whilst the investigation and recovery work took place.”

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting Operation Type.
