Gabriella Saxby, a pupil at Millais School Horsham, is looking to the future after her recent figure skating success.

Gabi, (13) has been ice skating since the age of 6 and recently won the Novice Solo Dance Cup in the Open Singles Championships at the John Nike Leisure Centre in Bracknell. She now has her sights set on standing on the podium at the British Championships in June.

Unsurprisingly, Gabi was thrilled with her success but it has not come about without a lot of hard work and training. She said: “I just love to figure skate; it’s something I want to do for the rest of my life. However, I’ll always be grateful to my Mum, as it was her who originally inspired me.”

From an early age Gabi was spotted as a girl with talent. Skating coach Katie Bennett said: “Gabriella has always shown huge potential from the moment she set foot on the ice and after many years of hard work she is being rewarded with excellent results in the qualification rounds for this year’s British Solo Dance Championships”

Proud Mum and Dad, Corinne and David Saxby added: ‘’After many years of early morning training sessions, it is rewarding to see Gabriella making progress towards achieving her goals and ambitions. We hope to carry on supporting Gabriella towards greater success.”

A talented, confident and determined figure skater, Gabriella is definitely someone to  watch for in the future Winter Olympics.
