Bluecoat Sports Health & Fitness Club at Christ’s Hospital held the National Swimathon event on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday April 26, and raised a huge £5,145 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Superheroes also attended the event and many participants dressed up in their own costumes.
Debbie Hayhurst, business support administrator at Bluecoat Sports told The District Post: “The day went really well, the atmosphere was amazing and enjoyed by all that took part. The children enjoyed having their photos taken with Batman and Robin and other superheroes.”
This year Bluecoat sports reached 6th in the south regional pool ranking and 10th nationally.
Debbie added: “Bluecoats has taken part in the Swimathon for the last 10 years to promote swimming in the local community and to raise valuable funds and awareness for the Swimathon Foundation and their main sponsor, which for
the last few years has been Marie Curie.
“We always encourage families and young swimmers to participate, many have tasted the excitement and go onto our after school swimming lessons or competitive swimming.”
Bluecoat sports will be taking part again next year and hope to make it bigger and better. Registration is now open for next year, more details can be found at www.bluecoatsports.co.uk
