Police have released an efit of the man they want to speak to in connection with an allegation of a serious sexual assault on a girl in Crawley.
A 13-year-old girl told her family that she was the victim of a rape in Crawley around three weeks ago.
The victim said that she was walking along an alleyway leading from the Desmond Anderson School towards Ashdown Drive, when she was approached by a man who asked her if she was ok and then dragged her into some nearby bushes and raped her.
Detective Inspector Mark Cullimore from West Sussex CID said: “We are hoping by releasing this efit someone will recognise this man. This was an extremely distressing incident and specially trained officers are giving support to the young girl and find out more details about the attack. Unfortunately we don’t have an exact date as to when this happened but we know it was about three weeks ago at around 5pm.
“Officers are continuing to make local enquiries and I would appeal to anyone who has any information that could assist them to please get in touch. Call 101 quoting serial 879 of 23/5 or alternatively you can leave an anonymous message with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 111 555.”
The suspect is described as white, late 30s, 5’ 8” tall, with dark hair and stubble. He was wearing a long beige coat and wellingtons.
