Staff get set to make a splash for Comic Relief

To raise money for Comic Relief, the Sony Centre, Horsham is joining a national initiative by Sony to swim and raise money for charity.

Chris Wright, Manager at the Horsham branch said: “Sony UK have organised the Sony Swimathon event where representatives from Sony as well as participating Sony Centres swim in their local pools for Comic Relief, myself along with my colleagues, Alex Darroch, Adam Glew, and Dipesh Patel are swimming 2 miles each.

“The catalyst behind this is the release of a new product called the NWZ-W273, Sony’s first fully waterproof, wearable Walkman.

“You can stick them on, go for a swim, and not worry about them getting wet, and they are secure and stay on your head.”

The new Walkman is 100% waterproof for swimming, sweat or rain. The 4GB MP3 player holds up to 900 tracks and features a sleek, wire-free design, 8 hour playback and quick charge. Its lightweight comfortable feel means you will barely notice you have it on.

The Walkman also features ZAPPIN, you can hear a flash of a song’s chorus before playing the track in its entirety, so you can find a beat that helps you pick up the pace.

Chris Wright said: “Collectively the Sony Centres, as well as Sony UK staff, have pledged in total to swim the length of the English Channel, which they have already beaten. It’s such a fantastic cause and we want to do out bit to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves and if that means we have to do something silly to raise money then that’s fine by me!”

“We have to do the swim on our own, and we have to have completed it by Monday, March 18, ideally we must also wear the new Walkman whilst we undertake the challenge.

“Were aiming to raise approximately £250 here, but more would be fantastic.”
