The Almost Elvis Band are preparing for their show at The Holbrook Club, Horsham next Friday, February 15.
Although the 6-piece band launched last year they have been performing since 2004 as The Embers. Guitarist, Andrew Gambling said: “Its something we’ve always wanted to try.
“Last year we were approached to do some fundraising for schools and charities and we thought we would try it out. We received some great feedback and since then it’s really taken off”
Over the past 12 months they’ve been invited to play at Horsham’s Jubilee Concert, the Festival of Sound, and the Halloween celebrations where they incorporated Doctor Who’s TARDIS into the show.
The band has now started performing at private functions including weddings, birthdays and corporate events.
Andrew said: “For us, it’s about trying to re-create the sound, look, energy, excitement and humour of an Elvis performance, from the early years right through to Vegas shows.
We make sure the music really delivers, and when Elvis appears, he’s on the stage, in the crowd, and on the tables! The audience reaction has just been fantastic”
The event at the Holbrook Club will see the band perform over 30 hits from the early Sun Sessions through to the movie years concluding with the Vegas show.
Andrew said: “These shows require a certain level of theatricality and we work with a great team from High Gain events to provide the appropriate level of sound, lighting and pyrotechnics that the King deserves”.
The Almost Elvis Band are now looking to take it to an even wider audience over the coming months, and are considering adding further backing vocalists and a horn section in order to provide an even greater experience and choice for listeners.
