A glamorous awards ceremony has been held to announce the retail businesses with the ‘best dressed windows’ in Horsham’s town centre.
Leading up to Christmas, the public was invited to vote for the shops, cafes, estate agents and other businesses they felt had the most creative, eye-catching and festive window displays.
The winners were announced at the awards evening at South Lodge hotel and included La Vida, Woodlands estate agents, La Source, Horsham Museum and Art Gallery as well as the Linen Shop and Gallery. Awards were also given to Horsham Markets and Cromptons at the Olive Branch for its efforts online.
This was the third year of the ‘Dressed for Success’ initiative, which is organised by Horsham District Council and Horsham Unlimited, the town centre business partnership.
Cllr Helena Croft, who attended the event, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people attending the Dressed For Success business awards this year and there were some fascinating presentations from key members of Horsham’s business community.”
Almost 140 people attended the awards, made up of local businesses, sponsors, partners, Horsham market traders, neighbourhood councils and representatives from Horsham Unlimited and Horsham District Council.
Speeches were given by Donna Camera, from La Vida, a representative from Metamorphosis, a company which helps retail businesses to create memorable window displays, and Josh Packham of Hexiweb, a website design company.
Members of the public who voted could win prizes including a Sony 22” LED TV courtesy of Swan Walk’s Sony Centre and a UK Weekend Break for 2 from West Street’s Thomas Cook. Close to 1,000 people voted for their favourite business window between 17 November 2012 and Christmas Eve.
