Harry Mailer has won another karting championship on what he hopes is the road to the Le Mans 24-Hour race.
The 13-year-old from Partridge Green topped the rankings in the Forest Edge Comer Cadet Championship, Hampshire, winning two races and consistently finishing well up in the points throughout the 10-race series.
His kart, which has a 60cc engine and a top speed of nearly 60 mph, has a Shark Attack chassis made in Camberley.
Next year he will graduate to the 125cc Mini Max karting class, when the top speed will rise to about 80 mph.
Dad Nick said: “The new kart seems huge compared to what Harry has been in, but we will probably be out testing in it in December.”
Former drivers in the Comer Cadet class include ex F1 world champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, Harry’s hero who won the US Grand Prix on Sunday.
Harry’s racing this year cost about £15,000 – paid for by the family and through the sponsorship of Wimbledon-based Future Light Design.
