The former Steyning Grammar pupil from Partridge Green is more than two-thirds into the challenge, on demanding terrain around the coast. He aims to finish in Poole, Dorset, before his 18th birthday on August 15.
Mum Janice said: “Having friends who joined the Army, and hearing about Help for Heroes in the media, Matthew decided to take up the challenge after his A levels. He has enjoyed family holidays in this stunning area and was keen to explore more. Matthew carries a now weather-beaten Help for Heroes flag and he has met many people along the way. He has been given donations, moral support, tea, refreshments and free pitches at campsites – all helping to spur him on.”
