Lin Rui, principal of a kindergarten in Guangdong, visited Bobtails Montessori, Adversane, to experience life in a UK nursery school. It was her first trip out of China.
Her partner, Billingshurst-born Marc Francis, said: “I met Lin Rui while teaching English to children and adults in China. In the three years I have known her, she has always wanted to know what early years education is like in the UK. On her successful application for a visa to travel to the UK, I arranged for her to spend time at Bobtails.”
Lin Rui taught children how to make dim sum, cooked Chinese noodles and showed how to use chopsticks.
She said: “The children were confident, friendly and open with me. It was lovely to be with them and see that young children, both here and in China, are becoming aware of the wider world that we live in. It really was a lovely experience and I am delighted with the photos, presents and jubilee tea cup that were presents from the children.”
Principal Yvonne Bradley said: “The children had a wonderful time rolling out the dough for the dim sum and trying to use the chopsticks for their noodles. Some of them actually managed to get the hang of it!”
