Horsham District Council has won the Innovative Delivery, Gold Democracy Award after holding elections to the West Sussex Youth Cabinet and UK Youth Parliament.
Young people from the district travelled to the Palace of Westminster to receive the award from children’s minister Tim Loughton, on behalf of the council. They were accompanied by Cllr Adam Breacher and council officer Clare Ebelewicz.
Cllr Breacher said: “As a young councillor, I feel it is crucial to listen and learn from the young people. It is important to work alongside them with any issues or concerns that they may have.”
Millais School and Ingfield Manor School, Five Oaks, also collected gold awards.
