Award-winning responders from the Henfield Area Response Team (HART) celebrated with a dinner at The White Hart.
Dave Fletcher received the Queen’s Ambulance Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, Trevor Simmons was named a Community Champion by the Royal Mail and five members received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Prof Douglas Chamberlain, a leading cardiologist who founded the first paramedic unit in Europe, said: “In some emergency cases, an ambulance response can rarely arrive in time to achieve success unless appropriate first aid has been given. HART meets that challenge in a way that few areas in the world can match. It deserves to be better known because it provides a great model. Well done all.”
