A body was this evening discovered in Leechpool Woods, Horsham, near to the site where missing Jennifer Marsh was last seen alive.
A spokesman for Sussex Police told The Resident: “A body has been found and we are on the scene making enquiries.”
He was unable to give any details at this stage, such as the gender of the dead person, who found the body or whether the death was being treated as suspicious.
He would not be drawn on whether police suspected the body to be that of Ms Marsh, 59, who was seen at home in Littlehaven Lane at 9.30am on Wednesday, May 30.
She was reported missing at 8.30pm the same day after failing to leave a note for her partner, something police said was out of character.
Police, the West Sussex Neighbourhood Watch search unit and Sussex Search and Rescue team searched Leechpool Woods and Owlbeech Woods.
This followed information from a member of the public who contacted police to say they saw Ms Marsh in Leechpool Woods at 11.20am on the day she went missing.
Posters, including a photograph, were handed out to horse riders and walkers around the Horsham area.
